The Mediterranean island of Corsica offers varied landscapes: chic coastal towns, dense forests and steep mountains (the peak of Monte Cinto is the highest). Almost half of the island's territory is classified as a natural park where it is possible to hike, especially on the GR20, renowned for its difficulty. Some beaches on the island are very crowded like Pietracorbara, others are quite secluded like Saleccia and Rondinara. Corsica has been part of the France since 1768, but its culture remains imbued with Italian influences.
